This book is based on Baldwin Research Inc.’s The Freedom Model for Addictions but it is geared more towards families as opposed to the substance user themselves. The Freedom Model is a method of helping people with substance abuse problems. BRI does not believe in the disease based approach, and therefore their model is based on the individual’s power to change his or her behavior. The approach is an alternative to much of the popular belief regarding addiction.
