This chapter will present some of the concepts of psychosocial medicine as they relate to psychosomatic disorders, particularly in groups. This will involve an examination of the epidemiology of psychosomatic disorders, their frequency and distribution, the demographic characteristics of the afflicted, and changing patterns of susceptibility and illness. Then we will look at some of the ideas about relationships between sociocultural processes and health or illness. (68 pp.)
