Excerpt:

Edward Bibring was one of the few systematic theoreticians of psychoanalysis. His keen awareness of the complexity of psychoanalytic theory and of the responsibility entailed by every attempt to systematize or amend it explains the fact that the range and scope rather than the volume of his writing give us the measure of his stature as a theoretician. Hence his achievement must be read not only in the lines, but also between the lines of his writing. (51 pgs).
