The subject matter of aphasia encompasses a spectrum ranging from the practical assessment of an acutely brain injured patient to the abstract theory of language. Since definitions of aphasia vary with the approach to the subject matter, descriptions adequate for one purpose are often inappropriate for another. This chapter is oriented toward the behavioral features of aphasia deficits. (60 pp.)
