Anorexia nervosa is a disorder of uncertain etiology which responds to psychological treatments. A highly individualized treatment program using techniques of behavior therapy is indicated and we consider family therapy essential both in the immediate and long-term management of patients. It is essential to provide maintenance therapy for at least five years consisting of an active booster treatment program administered at regularly scheduled intervals. (15 pp.)
