Adler forged many philosophical and scientific, humanistic conceptions into an original theory of psychopathology and system of psychotherapy. He was consistently guided by the idea of social progress and melioration. The difference with psychoanalysis is that between a physicalistic-causalistic and a humanistic-finalistic way of thinking.
