STAPP is a focal, goal oriented, psychodynamic psychotherapy first developed by Peter Sifneos. Based on psychoanalytic principles it aims to resolve pathological psychic conflicts and help those suffering from them to learn new ways of being in their interpersonal relationships. The main features of this approach are brevity, emotional reeducation, problem solving and limited goals. It is presupposed that the patient is able to cooperate in a therapeutic alliance and that he or she is able to benefit from an essentially interpretive, insight-oriented technique. (59 pp.)
